UDR7 on latest EA firmware/Network app has broken Smart Queues

I used the adaptive SQM setup to fight some bufferbloat. But i dont think it runs an actual speedtest on deployment.

here is the result of the SQM Monitor.

If you're comfortable SSHing into your gateway, we can debug a bit. If not, please remove the Adaptive SQM scripts for now and I'll do my best to simulate this on my end to make a fix.

It's likely due to the speedtest CLI failing to install on your gateway, but we'll find out for sure.

On the gateway, please let me know the output of:

tail -100 /var/log/sqm-*.log | grep -10 -i speed

And if that doesn't show any speedtest attempts or any errors, please give the whole output:

cat /var/log/sqm-*.log

Also let me know if this works:

speedtest --version

Also, please let me know what the output of the log is below the Deploy Settings button is when you run that.

I just tried simulating with your connection name (usually the obvious cause for issues on this feature) and it worked fine, so it must be an environmental difference on your UDM/UCG/UXG.

Good info. Can you run ip link | grep -3 ifb and ip link | grep -3 eth3 feel free to redact your public IP if it's included.

If eth3 doesn't match, can you find your WAN interface in the output of ip link and let me know which interface name it is?

The problem I think is you don't have an eth3 interface but that's what UniFi Network is telling Optimizer your WAN connection is running on.

i am using a UDR7 and the WAN is connected to Port 4 the 2.5gbe.

i am now seeing this error in the adaptive sqm section "Orphaned SQM Scripts Detected: Adaptive SQM scripts are deployed, but no WAN connections have Smart Queues enabled in UniFi. The scripts and scheduled tasks will not function correctly. You should either re-enable Smart Queues in UniFi, or remove the deployed scripts."

smart queues are emables in unifi for that wan connection

This may be a UniFi Network bug - what version of OS and Network are you on?

See what this gives:

tc qdisc show | grep -E "^qdisc fq_codel.*ifb"

I would suggest removing the Adaptive SQM scripts for now via the app until we find out why UniFi managed SQM isn't really enabled on your gateway when Network says it is.

In that case, there's a bug with either of those EA releases w/ the UDR7 that is keeping UniFi-managed SQM from being enabled with Smart Queues on. I've seen this before so I'm not super surprised. Have you tried toggling it off and on in the connection in UniFi Network to see if an ifb interface and qdisc get created then?

Unless they switched how they're implementing Smart Queues, I think there's a bug with how they're enabling the feature on those EA releases. Not seeing it on UCG-Fiber sites on both EA versions, so I think it's a UDR7 issue or something with that particular interface port.

I'd say try again the next release, or see if anybody is having the same issue with Smart Queues not working on the latest EA builds.

@morpheus1988wer might be worth trying one thing, disable Hardware Acceleration on the UDR7 Device in UniFi Network, then see if the ifb interface and tc qdisc show up then.

turning hw acc on the UDR7 sadly makes the usage of wifi 7 kind off irrelevant as the speeds are too slow
