Describe your issue

  1. The location selection section takes up half of the screen; it would be better to make it appear only in landscape mode (and should be redesigned to select days instead of location) and expand the weather-data section further to the left.
  2. The plus sign is way too big.

Have you tried using Set Orientation ?
It's almost all the way down on this page, It says it's for older devices but still works on a lot of devices today. using on my nvidia shield

Setting the orientation will probably break the UI because the app checks the device width to make adjustments. This approach is likely better since it gives me more control over the design.
