iPhone 13 (iOS 26.3) - No traffic visible on fresh setup

Description

Fresh setup of Proxyman on iPhone 13 running iOS 26.3 that never worked from the start. iPhone appears as Remote Device but no app traffic is visible.

Steps to Reproduce

Installed Proxyman certificate on Mac
Configured manual HTTP proxy on iPhone WiFi with Mac's IP and port 9090
Downloaded and installed Proxyman certificate using the AirPlay/screen mirroring method from Proxyman's setup guide
Installed certificate profile in Settings → General → VPN & Device Management
Enabled certificate trust in Settings → General → About → Certificate Trust Settings

Current Behavior

iPhone shows up under Remote Devices in Proxyman but no app traffic is visible. Only request that appears is 204 http://captive.apple.com/hotspot-detect.html

Expected Behavior

To see HTTP/HTTPS traffic from iPhone apps in Proxyman.

Environment

App version: Proxyman 6.6.0
macOS version: MacOS 26.3
iPhone: iPhone 13, iOS 26.3
Additional notes: VPN was completely disabled throughout setup. This is a fresh installation, not a previously working setup. Related to issue #2606 but different scenario.

Additional findings after troubleshooting:
The root cause appears to be Always-on VPN via ProtonVPN on iOS. Even when manually disconnecting the VPN, Always-on VPN remains active and cannot be disabled by the user. This appears to override the WiFi proxy settings, preventing Proxyman from capturing traffic.
Details:

VPN app: ProtonVPN
Connect on Demand: disabled
Always-on VPN: enabled and cannot be turned off manually
Even with VPN manually disconnected, no traffic appears in Proxyman

This may affect other users with Always-on VPN configurations. A possible solution might be for Proxyman to find a way to work alongside Always-on VPN.

Update: I was able to resolve this by downloading the Proxyman iOS app directly on my iPhone and temporarily disabling ProtonVPN's Connect on Demand feature. This allowed Proxyman's local VPN to run without conflict. Successfully capturing and inspecting HTTPS traffic from iPhone apps now. You may still want to investigate the original Mac proxy + Always-on VPN conflict for other users who prefer the Mac workflow, but the iOS app is a great workaround in the meantime. Thanks!

@AngelaRead the original problem is because your ProtonVPN on your iPhone.

When you set up your iPhone via Wifi - HTTP Proxy to Proxyman macOS, you have to close all VPNs app on your iPhone too. If not, no traffic appears on Proxyman

After an email conversation, it turns out the problem is that Proton VPN is active on your iPhone, so no traffic appears on Proxyman app 👍

Solution: Turn off all VPN on iPhone and it works 👍
