Tool architecture

I'm interested in code analysis tools. I want to understand how bandit works at the architectural level. For example, how semantics and syntax are called, what is the sequence of operation of the tool (ast construction and user rules). As far as I understand correctly, the usual AST construction from the Python library is used here. Perhaps there are resources where you can study in detail. So far I haven't found anything detailed. Once again (I'm interested in how the tool works and not how to integrate it :) )
