Checklist for releasing version VERSION

Final check
    make distcheck
    test tarball builds and works on Linux, MacOS...

Release tarball
    sh cleanup.sh
    svn update
    svn status
    verify everything is clean
    verify configure.ac contains VERSION
    update CHANGES with today's date and next revision R=R+1 for VERSION
    svn commit -> revision R
    svn update
    make sure svnrev.c does not exist
    sh autogen.sh && ./configure && make distcheck
    upload tarball to http://code.google.com/p/s3backer/downloads/list

Tag release
    svn cp https://s3backer.googlecode.com/svn/trunk https://s3backer.googlecode.com/svn/tags/${VERSION}

s3backer project
    update wikified man page
    Add new version to issue tracker: http://code.google.com/p/s3backer/adminIssues
    send email to s3backer-devel google group

OBS
    update s3backer.spec
    update OBS project

Bump version
    edit configure.ac and version therein
    svn commit
