There happens an error with the last Unity versions. I was using 2018.3.7f1

By the way congratulations and thank you for modernizing this awesome project.

Maybe I should not have included the package manifest.

What happens if you just click continue?

It just didn't load properly and started the Unity typical spiral of auto destruction.

Anyway I was wrong as was using a so old version 2018.3.7f1. Using 2020.1.6f1 worked as a charm.

Thank you again for this modernization.
