Alan and James,
in case you guys are still interested, I would like to pick up the work you did and install it on our development partition (IBMi) to "replace" the original DB2 DBAL and see what might be missing on a pre 7.3 install.
Which means, I might send over some pull requests pretty soon.
Just let me know if that sounds interesting or not.

As I said in the PR, I'm not actively working on any projects on IBM i currently, so I won't be able to commit any time to this. I ask Alan to put this library on his GitHub because his business is based entirely around IBM i so there's more chance of it being maintained ;)

No worries, starting Monday, I will cut a branch of our current DEV and add this module to it and see how it works out for us.
If necessary, I will make adjustments and offer the fruits of my labor to this library.
Either way, I appreciate the ground work you did so far.

Hi @guidofaecke. Have you had a chance to test this any?

I tested it as good as I could with phpUnit. However, if it makes you feel better, we run this patch in production on OS7.1 with ZendServer9 for a couple of month without any issues so far.
