[Feature Request & Feedback] Improving Manga Reading Experience: Page Turn Direction and Gesture Support #84

Hello,

While using Komelia, I've run into some issues regarding the manga reading experience that I'd like to provide feedback on, along with some suggestions for improvement.

Current Issues:

  1. No Option to Swap Page Turn Direction: The app currently lacks a setting to swap the tap zones for turning pages. For right-handed users on large-screen devices like tablets, this makes reading right-to-left (RTL) manga inconvenient.
  2. Gestures Ineffective in Paged Mode: While Komga's web reader also lacks a page-turning direction setting, it supports swipe gestures, which helps with right-handed operation. However, in Komelia's Paged mode, swipe gestures do not seem to work (it's unclear if this is a bug or an unimplemented feature). In contrast, gestures function perfectly in Continuous mode.
  3. Reading Mode is Forcibly Set: The "Reading Direction" setting on the Komga server forces Komelia to open books in Paged mode when set to RTL. Even if a user manually switches to Continuous mode for a book, it reverts to Paged mode the next time it's opened, causing significant inconvenience.

My Suggestions:

  1. Add a Setting to Swap Page Turn Direction: Introducing an option to swap the tap zones would be a highly practical feature and would greatly improve the user experience for RTL manga.
  2. Enable Gesture Support for Paged Mode: Supporting swipe gestures in Paged mode would be a great improvement for one-handed use, even without the direction-swapping option. While Continuous mode works well for RTL reading with gestures, its fine-grained scroll control can be cumbersome for simple page-by-page viewing.
  3. Decouple Reading Mode from Reading Direction: I suggest that the "Reading Direction" setting from Komga (when not set to Vertical or Webtoon) should only influence the page-turning direction within Paged and Continuous modes, rather than dictating the mode itself. This would give users the freedom to choose their preferred reading mode.

This is my feedback as a user. I hope it can be a helpful reference for the development of Komelia. Thank you for your time and effort on this great application.
