XMLReader returns "Invalid spreadsheet file"

Hello,

I'm trying to import a simple XML file

Excel::import(new \App\Imports\InvoicesImport, $request->file('file'), null, \Maatwebsite\Excel\Excel::XML);

This line works well with other file formats (.csv, .xlsx) with the corresponding reader in the last parameter.
But only the XML reader immediately throws an exception.

I tried multiple XML files, but the result was always the same with this response:
/var/www/html/storage/framework/cache/laravel-excel/laravel-excel-2J5WpPVNJMvzGpN4ZhWzBW43mHa4KvHT is an Invalid Spreadsheet file.

Has anyone tried to read an XML file with this package? Is this a bug?

The XML Reader is for reading Microsoft's SpreadsheetML format files, that was introduced as an interim format between the BIFF binary (xls) and the Office Open XML (xlsx) formats. Is your file a SpreadsheetML formatted file? The error message suggests that it isn't
