Implementation Plan:
Benchmark: Establish a baseline using profiling tools to identify bottlenecks in the polling loop.

Optimize: Refactor JSON parsing (aiming for zero-copy where possible) and offload any heavy computation from the main async thread.

Verify: Provide "before vs. after" metrics demonstrating stable memory usage and consistent API response times.
