How to block the sending of mail and BitTorrent?

As the title says, how to block the sending of mail and BitTorrent?

Is this simply using iptables to block ports 25 (SMTP) and 6881-6889 + 6969 (BitTorrent), or is there any easier way?

Any help appreciated.
