Description
Apologies if this isn't the right place for this, but I thought this topic may pertain to DDWG in terms of serving realtime convection map data.
The above website is a really neat visualization of global weather conditions. There are a lot of overlays and layers that the user can choose from, showing wind, currents, wildfires, etc. There is currently an auroral oval overlay which uses OVATION, so there is precedent for inclusion of space weather data in this website. I think it would be a great idea to explore adding ionospheric convection to this website as well. This would be reminiscent of the classic convection map video/visualization (see image below), but updating in real time based on the data that we feed to the website. In my opinion, this would be a very useful outreach tool, e.g. something that could be displayed on a screen in the lobby of our building, or linked to on the SuperDARN websites.
