How to use with babel?

Is there any easy way to get it going with babel as a plugin?

I did look into this but the support would need to be added to babel's parser, which isn't really something that plugins can do. There are some core plugins that extend the grammar, but the support is actually in the parser, and all the plugin does is pass a flag down to the parser to enable it!

I don't think this is something the babel team would ever accept.

To be honest, I'm not even using this any more. ES6 template strings are supported as standard now, and they have nice features like placeholders and tags. There are only two disadvantages:

1. You have to escape backticks (and ${)
2. It doesn't do anything to fix the whitespace like triplet does

The only time I've encountered any issues with backticks is with MySQL, but I just avoid using any table or column names that would require backticks so I never have to use them.

That said, this does work reasonably well in combination with babel. All you do is parse your sources with triplet first, and then pass the output from triplet into babel (see also gulp-triplet). This is how I was using it for a good few years and it worked well. It purposely preserves line numbers, so triplet doesn't need to do anything with source maps - if you enable source maps in babel everything should still work sensibly (obviously column numbers won't match exactly if you get any errors on the same line as the string, but this is pretty rare).

For something like a vue template back ticks are critical, ty :)
