Create content for post-launch announcement. This content will appear on front page via global announcement [#84]. There shall be a welcome message to greet users for at least the first few months after launch. The messag will link to the announcement.

Some topics to formally address at launch (i'm sure there are more):

  1. Will you ever charge me to use GUNDEALS ? (leave room for 'gundeals brass')
  2. Will dealers ever be pay-to-play ?
  3. Who built the site ?
  4. Can we donate ?
  5. Can your infrastructure handle the demand ?
  6. Will you host videos ?
  7. Where to leave suggestions ?

@nautbot You can reuse a lot of the information that you posted @ r/GunDealsAnnouncements. Perhaps the Q&A format is useful here or would be better served in a separate FAQ/wiki. You're good at these things so I'll leave it to you to compile the content and collab with front-end team to put on site.

What is Gundeals?

Gundeals is a link aggregation and discussion website for sharing the best community-sourced deals on firearms, ammunition and accessories.

Where do the deals come from?

Gundeals is community-sourced – submissions come from individuals like you are me, as well as from participating vendors.

How does Gundeals control spam?

Gundeals is moderated by a team of community managers, along with the invaluable assistance of the community.

Who built the site?

The Gundeals website started as a fork of the Postmill open source project, and was then futher enhanced by an amazing group developers/firearm enthusiasts.

How does Gundeals make money?

Currently, Gundeals is being funded out-of-pocket by the site’s founders. Eventually, we may accept donations or possibly sell small, unobtrusive ad space.

What other content will Gundeals host?

We don’t know yet – right now, the focus is sharing links to third-party commercial vendors.

Will Gundeals ever be pay-to-play?

No. Gundeals is meant to be a community, not a profit center. Paying for access to the community is not going to happen. We may eventually come up with some small perks for those who opt to help support the site, but that's not going to include exclusive deals.

How much demand can your infrastructure handle?

Hopefully just about anything! The site is being hosted by major cloud service providers, allowing the ability to quickly react and scale based on demand.

Will you host videos?

Not anytime soon. Our focus is on link sharing and discussion – hosting videos is an exponentially more complicated and demanding service.

Where can I leave suggestions?

Website feedback may be left [here.]
