Refactor Task: General cleanup of redundant/low-quality code

There is a lot of code (especially within Cloud Management) that is either completely unnecessary or could be improved/optimized significantly. A concerted effort to DRY up the code base would be very beneficial to performance, scalability and maintainability in the future.
