Simple.js adds the placeholder back in prematurely

Steps to reproduce:
- Set up a placeholder
- Click into the input
- Type something
- delete what you've just typed

although the textbox is still active the placeholder appears, meaning you have to delete it to be able to type. This is most noticable when you hit the wrong key to start with, delete it and then have a whole lot of other deletions to do.
