MD-CHGR traffic #2
Comments
Sure,
I still got aftermarket unit laying around (that mimics MD/sat, and
splitter cables, basically the whole lot. I also got an ipod somewhere to
try all coms and do FW upload to aftermarket unit.
Sniffing that is is easy, just let the arduino decode the stream, and save
it somewhere, or alternatively a logic analyser.
Then it's s matter of figuring out what is send by HU and what bytes are
replied by the other end.
Protocol wise , is probably quite similar, albeit without proper response
bytes, hard fool the HU.
Where do you live?,not by any chance near Nijmegen? Would be nice to do
Both radio types while at it.

Any chance for MD-CHGR sniffing? I'm from NL as well and I got a HU803 in
my volvo (S60), so I could provide that. I also have a leftover 603 laying
around, and even another (disassembled) 803 with a non-working left channel.
As far as I've been able to find out is that MD-CHGR protocol is not that
different from CD-CHGR, just need to get the right identifier and cartridge
info request. However, it doesn't stop there. So, any sniffed traffic would
be really helpful. I am of course willing to put the protocol open source
(if allowed...) if I get it working.
I'm using the CD-CHGR version from visualapproach at the moment, and I'm
working on a PCB with a BK8000L as bluetooth module, with serial support so
I can display the song names on the screen. My 803 doesn't work with SAT,
so that option is not available for me, hence why I'm trying to get MD
working.

I live in Tilburg, so that's not too far away. Hu603 and 803 are very similar, except 603 has an internal amp, but it would be interesting to see if the traffic is different. How shall I give you my contact details? |
Hi, sorry for the delay busy times if you could reach-out via vtj[punt]gijsen[apenstaartje]gmail[jeweetwel], then we can disucss how to proceed. sorry for the cryptic email, but i get already enough spam, as it is ;), just replace the stuff in the [ ]. |
Hi, we have sniffed the traffic :) |
Hi, is there any sniffed traffic data of MD-CHGR TEXT? |
Hi,
Unfortunately the last attempt seems inconclusive, when a new session is scheduled, we’ll share it. Some bits and pieces are in but probably not enough for md changer at this pint. I suggest subscribe to this repo, if it is updated, you get notified in the future.
