I'm confused how automatic suggestions work

So I've got Weblate self-hosted and DeepL auto-suggestions enabled. Whenever I open a translated string, In a fraction of a second I see actual translation replaced by the source language translation (in my case from EN to EN).

However, when I try to select the text in the translation input, It selects actual Italian string

How does that work?
What happens if I click "Accept" at the bottom in the "Automatic suggestions" tab?
What happens if I click "Save and ..."? Does it save the English string or the invisible Italian?

Very confused how it's supposed to work 😕

I feel so dumb right now... Chromes Google Translate was set to "Always translate Italian" 🤦‍♂️
