[Theme Handbook Overhaul] Getting Started > Quick-start guide #878
Comments
Heads up @kafleg @carolinan @TeBenachi - the "themes" label was applied to this issue. |
I've almost completed the first draft of this. The remaining section is on exporting a theme with the Create Block Theme plugin. I'll be on vacation until July 3, so if anyone wants to draft out that section in the meantime, let me know. I'll be happy to add editing access for you. Otherwise, I'll wrap it up when I return. |
It's detailed and precise. I don't want to get involved in the writing and make it bad. ;) I'll help to add in the site when we start doing that. Also checked the draft. Some words are quite tough for me, I think we need to use 3 grade standard words to make it even simpler to read it. |
I've completed the final section of this post with the addition of steps on how to export with Create Block Theme. @kafleg - Feel free to suggest any word changes in the doc. I'm happy to make changes where needed. |
Looks OK to me, pending screenshots. We should avoid using yoursite.com as an example because this is an existing commercial third-party site. |
This doc is now a draft in the Theme Handbook: https://developer.wordpress.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=149320&action=edit Note that I've updated all of the screenshots to use Twenty Twenty-Four since it will be released before this doc goes live. Edit: The screenshots leave out |
With the new images, the content is even better. Thank you and LGTM. |
This ticket is a part of #816 and will be used for creating new page titled "Quick-start guide" under Chapter 1: Getting Started.
I will draft the content for the new page in a Google Doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jThdDosfY9NG-A-0N-azkJg0XR2wjwszYof5UnMm3FE/edit?usp=sharing
