Why my encoder is not found

Hi,

I'm currently working with Windows 11 Terminal (PowerShell 7.5), and my auto-editor doesn't recognize the hevc_nvenc encoder.

Here’s what I’ve tried:

PS C:\Users\Pablo\Videos\Out> ffmpeg -hide_banner -encoders | findstr nvenc
 V....D av1_nvenc            NVIDIA NVENC av1 encoder (codec av1)
 V....D h264_nvenc           NVIDIA NVENC H.264 encoder (codec h264)
 V....D hevc_nvenc           NVIDIA NVENC hevc encoder (codec hevc)
PS C:\Users\Pablo\Videos\Out> auto-editor RDR1.mp4 -c:v hevc_nvenc
Error! Unknown encoder: hevc_nvenc

To install everything, I followed these steps:

winget install ffmpeg
winget install python
pip install auto-editor
# Add python-pip packages path into PATH_ENV var in Windows 11

As far as I understand, FFmpeg can find the encoder I want to use, but auto-editor cannot.

Could you please help me? I'm a bit lost.

All encoders and decoders are from PyAV. Auto-Editor does not use the ffmpeg cli at all.

On that case, I should know wich encoders are supported by PyAV, right?

Try upgrading PyAV pip install -U --pre pyav and see if hevc_nvenc works now
