Having a simple connector to the Unity particle system would probably work quite well, though this would be a temporary solution given the anticipation of Unity's eventual removal from Neos.
There are probably some things we can't do with particle systems without proper collections support. There's also no way for us to define interpolation curves. But other than that, using Unity's particle system would provide us with a lot of extra functionality over Neos' implementation.
