balena-io/etcher#4144 .... related to debian and therefore Ubuntu removing dep packages ...

idea: consider using the AppImage for those distros?

balena-io/etcher#4226 someone apparently has made a patch and PR but who knows when it MAY get merged

2610e1c is my "fix" for addressing this for now

swtiched to using the appimage but i am seeing coredumps running that on Ubuntu 24.04

I am not really sure what to do with this issue, as it's sort of out of my hands until Etcher updates and pulls in that PR that fixes things.

The issue is not with my code

Though i have seen OpenSUSE Leap 15.6 work (Etcher*.AppImage on 15.6) ... so is it only an issue with some distros? (say how Czhawka's AppImage works perfectly fine in Leap 15.6 but at least at the moment even looing for deps ... it doesn't in Leap 15.5)

Months later and reading the issues for Etcher, this still seems like an issue. Are they not fixing it or are they not releasing frequent updates?

update: last release i see is in May ...before i saw this issue really so that makes sense
