Why do we need the "Obsidian Kanban Plugin" for this template?

I stumbled across this template early this week and it felt like a great fit for a current need.
However, I do not yet understand why we need the "Obsidian Kanban Plugin" for this template?

We do not need the Obsidian Kanban Plugin to render each Markdown file into each box in the template.

Sorry, my mistake. Canvas is a core plugin in Obsidian, so you don't need the "Obsidian Kanban Plugin" for this template to work.
The template has a bunch of Markdown files, one for each box or building block.
The .canvas file gathers all these text files together. You can input text on each .md file separately or type everything in the single .canvas document.

Great, thank you very much for the response. I tried it both ways, and you were correct. The files for the canvas were actually not automatically linked to each of the "cards" in the canvas upon import.
However, it was quick work to connect the right ones with the GUI.

Interesting. The files should be linked to the canvas upon import. Did you open the folder "as a new vault" in Obsidian?

Ah, I did not. I unzipped and copied into a vault that I had already started. That may have made the difference.
