From the US Federal Reserve website:
The Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF) is a survey conducted every three years to gather information about the finances and demographics of families in the United States. The survey data provides details on families' balance sheets, pensions, income, and other characteristics. Additionally, information from related surveys of pension providers, as well as earlier surveys conducted by the Federal Reserve Board, is included. This survey is the only one of its kind that collects comparable information for the country. The data collected from the SCF is widely used, from analysis at the Federal Reserve and other government branches to scholarly work at major economic research centers.
