Adding account via QR code on MacOS when Stage Manager is enabled #1754
Comments
To scan a QR code, the window containing the full code needs to be visible on the screen. With Stage Manager enabled on macOS, you should still be able to drag the window containing the QR code to the visible area together with Yubico Authenticator so that it is captured in the screenshot. Could you try this and let us know if it resolves the problem? |
Sure it solves the problem. It's just that this is highly counter-intuitive, cause you won't be using this feature too frequently so it's almost guaranteed users get "No QR code found" more often than not after hitting "Scan QR code" button. More importantly, "No QR code found" is very unhelpful. |
Thanks for your input. We'll definitely take this into consideration for a future release. |
@skirsdeda Again, no technical solution but just something I found really helpful myself as a big fan of Stage Manager, if you zoom the QR code in the web browser large enough it will actually be scannable from Authenticator even if the web browser doesn't have focus, so no need to move windows etc. |
It's impossible to add account using QR code when Stage Manager is enabled in macOS, because Yubico authenticator expects a window with QR code to be in the background. I think it would work better if there was some timeout with countdown during which you were allowed to open your window where QR code is shown.
