As a player I would want to be able to switch weapons because it feels good that I have an arsenal of weapons at my disposal. Plus you wouldn't want to play the game with only one weapon it's just so boring.  However if that is the case then I would have a feature where you can upgrade your weapon. This will be cool as you can make it way stronger. That what I would do overall for the weapons.
