Background

Here, “SDK users” means users of the SDK who aren’t Ably SDK developers.

As described in #1623, Ably SDK developers are the primary consumers of the log messages emitted by the SDK. However, there may also be certain circumstances in which SDK users may find the logs useful.

This issue aims to understand these users’ needs and how we might meet them.

User needs

This remains to be discussed with Product.

One thing that comes to mind is that we may wish to use the logs to bring to users’ attention important events which it is possible for them to otherwise miss — for example, errors that the user can receive via an optional callback..
