This is a successful build of Moonray for Houdini 20.5.332 (Python 3.10). It's quite unstable (more than I remember) so use it to test only.

To run:

source scripts/setup.sh

/opt/hfs20.5/bin/houdinifx

Did the build steps differ heavily from the 1.5.0.0 build instructions or was it basically the same?

Hi! I'm working on a shell script using distrobox, it had to change some things from the pxr_config files and the deps versions.

I haven't released any guide yet because the plugin isn't working great (they haven't touched it since the first release) so I prefer polishing the build process while we wait on some updates for dcc_plugins.

I agree, I got your latest build running, but mine instantly crashes houdini when I start rendering. I am currently trying an export workflow where I am saving out the USD files from Houdini, bringing them into the Docker container, and rendering there, but it's not a very good workflow. I will also test out a VM with Rocky Linux and see if that is more stable than Fedora 40.

I’ll let you know if I figure out anything interesting.

You can build Moonray for your host Linux machine, it just needs some basic patching like including missing libraries.
