I became aware of this doing the 'Interfacing with Machines' quest for AE2, which states the pack changed the interface GUI to allow use of the new Pattern Capacity Cards.

The QB states to delete this file to resolve the GUI changes: assets\appliedenergistics2\textures\guis\interface

Since the GUI was expanded to allow for additional patterns as seen below:
