this feature would stand as the fix for the issue of "the original artist isn't actually on the site"

you'd get the option in the authors feature to add a new author, and give them a name and a link to whatever site they'd prefer, this works well in the case of commissions where the artist may not want to join anthera (or the commissioner doesn't want to ask)

pfp upload would not be an option, and it would just show as a custom "external user" icon (would be made for this feature), and only have three inputs:
