The new feature for exprort to pivot structure is not working for excel , its working for csv

Create a pivot report
try to export with both export pivot excel and csv
excel option will not work

This is a known bug in the latest Superset (v6/master): the "Export to Pivoted Excel" feature often does not work as expected. If you have multiple pivot tables on a dashboard, exporting to Excel always exports the first table, regardless of which one you select. This happens because the export function targets the first matching table in the DOM, not the one you clicked on. There are currently no workarounds or configuration options to change this behavior, and it is confirmed to affect the latest master/dev version details.

If your issue is different (for example, no file is generated at all, or the file is corrupt), please check your browser console for JavaScript errors or Superset logs for Python stack traces, as there could be an additional problem. If you can share any error messages or logs, that would help narrow it down.

The CSV export works because it uses a different code path and does not try to preserve the pivot structure. The Excel export is intended to keep the multi-level column structure, but this bug prevents it from working reliably in dashboards with multiple pivot tables feature background.

Thave tried to export from the chart edit screen , the issue is while clicking nothing is triggering ,

In the Explore (chart edit) screen, only a general "Export to Excel" option exists—there isn't a dedicated "Export to Pivoted Excel" like in dashboards. If clicking the export option does nothing, it's usually because the option is disabled (greyed out) due to export permissions or the chart type, or there may be a frontend JavaScript error.

Please check if the export option is greyed out. If it's enabled but still nothing happens, open your browser's developer console and look for any errors when you click the export option. This will help pinpoint if it's a UI bug or a configuration issue. The export menu and its handlers are wired up to trigger an export if allowed, so a silent failure often means a frontend error or a missing handler for that menu item in your current chart type configuration (source).

Let me know what you find in the console or if the menu item is disabled—this will help narrow down the cause.

I'm unable to validate this report in Superset 6.0.0. Steps:

• Create dashboard
• Create pivot table chart
• Click the three dots on the chart, Download -> Export to Pivoted Excel

I successfully get the export in both CSV and Excel formats, whether exporting on the chart editor view or while the chart is on a dashboard.

So I don't think it's simply "this is broken".

Maybe your user doesn't have a necessary permission for Excel? Try checking the application logs at the time where this occurs.
