Smartdocs service with SSO

We are trying to use the Smartdocs Service to use the API to upload models but it looks like the code in the module redirects to index.php when used in an SSO type environment even though we got this page excluded from SSO protection.

Is there a fallback to index.php in the code somewhere?

i used https://www.drupal.org/project/services_api_key_auth instead of basic auth in our case as drupal portal was behind saml
