onClick events don't work

Straight from the example page - clicking on text doesn't increment counter value nor does it update text

Tried both on react api and without it

I tried calling cmd outside VSCode with the same result for this code

Even powershell doesn't work

I'm somewhat sure the reason for this is simple so I apologize in advance
