Kakoune?

Although I don't entirely grasp how this works under the hood, it looks awesome! Is there any way I could use kakoune instead of vim? Would I have to modify code?

I don't know anything about kakoune, but Athame uses the vimbed vim plugin for most communication. If kakoune can't use vimscript you would need a similar plugin for kakoune
