Hi. It all depends on the legislation in force in your country. If I look at the problem from a French point of view, owning a radio is not illegal. Neither is listening to frequencies. Transmitting, on the other hand, is a different matter. If you don't have a radio operator's certificate, it's not allowed, even on PMR at 500 mW (because the antenna is detachable). You'll run into problems. Setting the TX Lock menu in the hidden menus won't change a thing. The police won't take this kind of detail into account. |

Hi. I'm wondering if the TXLock function should not be placed in a hidden menu. I don't have a radio license, but I often use the radio for listening and have FLock set to DISABLE ALL and TXLock set to ON.
Very rarely, occasionally I transmit something on the PMR band by changing the TXLock option to OFF. However, in case of a police check, it would be safer and easier to explain that it's just a receiving device and there's no way to enable transmitting from a menu item (because TXLock would be in a hidden menu).
