New Feature Suggestion: Volume Lock & MDC Roger Beep

I hope you're doing well! My name is Sean, N7SIX, and I truly appreciate your excellent work.

I would like to kindly suggest the possibility of adding a feature that allows the volume to be locked at preset levels (e.g., 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%) when the keypad is locked to prevent accidental adjustments. Additionally, I was wondering if it would be possible for the MDC from the Roger beep to be audible through the speaker after transmission.

I would greatly appreciate your consideration of these features, as I am a big fan of your work.

About volume, according to me, it will be difficult. The volume knob cannot be controlled by the microcontroller. And without being able to do that, I think it will be complicated. But this feature would be very interesting, I agree with you. About MDC from the Roger, I don't know. I'll take a look 😌

I also thought that controlling the volume knob via the microcontroller would be difficult. I was just thinking of posting the idea in case someone might have insights on how it could be done—perhaps by simply disabling the volume knob when the keypad is locked, so it stays at its current volume setting.

Regarding MDC, I was just wondering whether it would be possible. I truly appreciate you taking the time to look into it.

Also, I want to thank you for your work on the V3.9 firmware. I’ve tested almost all available versions, and for me, your craft stands out as the best, followed closely by IJV.

The volume stuff can be done, you just gotta add a motor 🤪... or swap out the volume control circuit with a digital version. Sounds fun, but probably not worth the time/hassle. It's much easier to just add a rubber oring around the knob to make it harder to turn.

As for MDC, I think that should be possible, though I'm not sure if that's a feature other people would want to use at all.
