cloudformation test-type failing with assume role error

I'm trying to run cloudformation's test-type command and it's failing with
Could not assume specified role 'arn:aws:iam::...

For what it's worth my local cfn test using the same execution arn works without a problem.

If test-type is not running as my user do I need to create a 3rd party cross-account role?

It looks like the issue is with the Trusted Entities configuration created by cfn submit when it creates an execution role. I've fixed that and it gets past that to contract errors.
