The Windows AMIs under defaults.cfg are several months old, but are not from 2017.
For example, the Windows Server 2016 AMI in us-east-1 is from 2018.01.12:

ami-603b1c1a
Windows_Server-2016-English-Full-Base-2018.01.12

Can we leverage Parameter Store to always get the latest AMI?
