Serial interfaces not recognized

4. Description of your issue:
   I am trying to update the software with an SH file to use the TU-S9 serial adaptor. It says it updates but then doesnt communicate with the adaptor. I also tried the serial board from Stratux that is supposed to be recognized automatically without any software updates and have the same issue. The BAUD rate selection never appears on the Settings page with either serial device. I have tried v1.6r1-eu029 and eu028 with the same results. (edited)

What SH file are you talking about? I don't know of any update file that would add support for additional serial adapters.
With quick googling, I can't even tell what chip is in that adapter.
Stratux supports CP2102 based serial adapters and nothing else. They will be detected automatically if they are configured/branded correctly (see wiki). Otherwise they won't. And that's all there is to know about it.

It is certainly possible to make different adapters work, but it requires more in-depth Linux usage (or somebody to write a correct update.sh file for a current Stratux version at least. The software has changed significantly over the last few years).

On a first glance, that update script does look fine indeed, didn't know that thirdparties (GRT) provided something like this.
Hard to really say what's going wrong then, without direct access to the PI. If you know some basic Linux, you can connect via SSH and check if /dev/serialout0 is correctly created with that patch installed. If not maybe the internal chip of the TU-S9 changed or something, then the udev rule would need to be changed.
If you don't know what to do, I'd recommend contacting GRT for that. The dongle is not supported by Stratux, GRT adds third-party support, so they are responsible to make it work.

Oh, and one more thing: If you apply that patch, the dongle that's specified in it will work, but no other, including the one from Amazon you linked, will work. If you want to make that work again, you'd need a patch that reverts the previous one (or re-flash the Micro-SD).

Thanks. I have contacted GRT and they are looking into it.
... and, yes, when I converted to the Stratux serial adaptor, I re-flashed the SD card (once with eu028 and once with eu029).

Thanks for the info. I am new to this site so that helps.
I just powered it up again with the Stratux Serial Adaptor and now the "Serial Output Baudrate" shows up on the Settings screen. Great that it seems to recognize it now, but somewhat concerning that it didnt before. I didnt change anything since yesterday.
