The more noise you have, the less reception range. Receiver gain is automatically reduced if noise levels get too high, that's why it is "normalized" to a gain of 50, to make the numbers more comparable. There are many ways how the noise level can be influenced. But for reliable values, make sure you monitor while airborne, since ground appliances (e.g. your office PC) can be huge sources of noise. |
