Surely most modern devices have the hardware capability to scan the spool chips. Please (for the colorblind) allow us to scan the spools for their color without feeding it through the AMS:

  • Colorblind People with lots of spools "Is this silver or gray?"
  • When a spool RUNS out - LOL you can't scan it in the AMS with no filament. You're forced to "trick" it with an extra piece of filament to read the closed tag.
