Github pull problem via tethering

Hello everyone,

This morning I had a problem that I couldn't pull any Docker image.
I got the following message:
Error response from daemon: Get "<https://ghcr.io/v2/>": net/http: request canceled while waiting for connection (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers)

This was on a PC that I had connected to Debian via tethering using a mobile phone.
The internet connection was working. I was also able to pull the Hello World packet.
It just didn't work on Github.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

This question isn't directly related to Frigate, but there are a number of reasons why this might be happening.

Possible Causes & Solutions:

1. Mobile Carrier Blocking GHCR
   Some mobile carriers block certain types of traffic or restrict access to non-standard HTTPS endpoints.

   • Solution: Try using a VPN to see if that bypasses any network restrictions.

2. IPv6 Issues
   Some networks (especially mobile networks) have poor IPv6 support, which can cause timeouts.

   • Solution: Try forcing IPv4 with:

     DOCKER_OPTS="--dns 8.8.8.8 --dns 8.8.4.4"

     Or disable IPv6 in your network settings.

3. DNS Resolution Issues
   The request might be timing out due to slow or blocked DNS resolution.

   • Solution: Change your DNS server to Google (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1):

     echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" | sudo tee /etc/resolv.conf

4. Rate Limiting or Authentication Issues
   If you are pulling from ghcr.io, ensure you're authenticated if the image is private.

   • Solution: Run:

     echo $GITHUB_TOKEN | docker login ghcr.io -u USERNAME --password-stdin

5. Proxy or Firewall Issues
   Some networks block requests based on ports or domains.

   • Solution: Check if a proxy is interfering:

     echo $http_proxy $https_proxy

     If a proxy is set, try disabling it:

     unset http_proxy https_proxy

6. Docker Daemon Configuration
   Ensure Docker is not misconfigured. Restart the daemon:

   sudo systemctl restart docker

thank you very much for the answer. Even though this is certainly not the right forum, I thought someone might have a quick solution.
I took a look at the points mentioned.

Mobile Carrier Blocking GHCR:
Tried it with VPN. Unfortunately without success.

IPv6 Issues DOCKER_OPTS="--dns 8.8.8.8 --dns 8.8.4.4":
I saved it in the settings. Unfortunately without success.
Other image servers, including the one from Docker itself, work.

DNS Resolution Issues:
Here I tried other name servers. Unfortunately without success.
Other image servers, including the one from Docker itself, work.

Rate Limiting or Authentication Issues:
All of your frigate images can be obtained without registering.
It works for me at another station too.
So that won't help either.

Proxy or firewall issues:
That's not the point either. I checked that.

Docker Daemon Configuration:
I started Docker and the server several times. Unfortunately without success.

It's strange that this doesn't work. Everything else, such as Debian updates or pulling images from other sources, works. Only pulling from Github doesn't work on the station.

I have now saved the image on another server via Docker Save and then saved it on the relevant station via Docker Load.
Can you actually download the Frigat Docker images directly in the browser?

GitHub Container Registry (ghcr.io) does not provide direct file downloads like a regular website.
