Use of native attributes

In the properties API documentation of some components it mentions the use of native attributes (Any native attribute). Are native attributes only supported when specified in the documentation or should they be always supported?

Although the b-tag component documentation doesn't mention native attributes, it works if I add them. For example, class or data-testid. However, these same attributes aren't added to a b-tab-item component (in this case native attributes aren't mentioned on the documentation).
