Hi all,
I have an issue, but maybe this is just me not understanding how this work.
I've setup a couple of tasks to remind me to put the trash on the sidewalk every Wednesday evening, when created last week I noticed in the calendar that the chore was there for 3 consecutive weeks and then that's it. I thought maybe once the chore is done it checks for the next three weeks and creates automatically a new one three weeks later.
Last Wednesday (march 18th), chore done, disappeared on the calendar but nothing past April 1st so it's like in two weeks I won't have a reminder anymore.
Am I missing something ? I wanted to check "clear due date" when setting the chore up, but it showed an error.

Also for the same task, it showed up as completed on Wednesday evening (after claiming it obviously), but since Thursday 00am, it shows up with a red flag and "missed" with the next due date next week.

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out. You aren't missing anything—this is just a mix of how the scheduling engine optimizes performance and a few specific settings.

Here is a breakdown of exactly what is happening and the easiest way to fix it:

1. Why it only shows 3 weeks on the calendar
To keep Home Assistant running smoothly, ChoreOps treats daily and daily_multi chores a bit differently. By default, it only projects them onto the calendar for 30 days into the future (which is exactly 1/3 of the default 90-day calendar limit which can be adjusted - https://github.com/ccpk1/ChoreOps/wiki/Configuration%3A-General-Options )

• Don't worry: It will not stop reminding you! This is a "rolling" window. As each day passes, it automatically calculates and adds the next future day to the calendar.

2. A better setup for your Trash chore
Because you only do this exactly once a week, changing the Recurrence type from daily to weekly will actually work much better for you!

• Set the Recurrence to weekly and pick Wednesday. You won't even need to use "Applicable Days".
• You do not need to "Clear Due Date". The system will automatically reschedule the chore for the next week when the system resets at midnight assuming you use the default "At Midnight Once" approval reset.
• Pro-tip: Use the Due Window setting (for example, set it to 12 hours). This tells the dashboard when to start showing the chore as orange and show as "Due". (Otherwise it will by default show in the later grouping or this week depending on when you look)

3. Why it showed as "Missed" on Thursday
It sounds like you accidentally changed the Overdue Handling setting to Missed.

• Missed is a gamification feature. If you don't complete the chore before it is due, it locks the chore, marks it as failed (red flag), and moves on to the next week.
• The Fix: Edit your chore and change the Overdue Handling back to the default setting: Overdue until complete. This way, if you forget to take the trash out on Wednesday, it will stay on your dashboard as overdue on Thursday so you can still claim it!

Try changing that chore to weekly with Overdue until complete, and it should run perfectly on autopilot for you! Let me know if you run into any other questions.

Hi @ccpk1 thanks for your help. Will use your tips to setup my tasks better. However my trash task was already in "weekly" recurrence and the overdue handling on "Overdue Until Complete (Clear Late Approvals Immediately)". I changed to "Overdue Until Complete" and see how it goes.

On the same topic (kind of), I have a similar task that I want to do every Wednesday and Saturday. I tried to set it up as "weekly" and select Wed and Sat as applicable days. After creating the task it shows up as expected every wed and sat in the calendar. But as soon as I marked the task complete this morning, next due date is next week Saturday (Wednesday due date disappears from the calendar). Is it better to set it up as daily and select every day to exclude ?

Keep an eye on the first one and let me know, Overdue Until Complete (Clear Late Approvals Immediately) would still make sense here, but either are fine. The difference between the two is only that the (Clear late approvals immediately) will do the approval reset right away and get it scheduled for the next due date a week later. The other will just show as approved until the normal, probably midnight reset occurs. What doesn't make any sense if for that to have ever shown as missed, so let me know what you see, there might be a logic tweak required.

One the second one, yes you should use daily if you need multiple applicable days. Weekly is always going to reschedule for 1 week out and end up skipping one of the days. I understand why the calendar is showing that way, because technically it could shift days, but the reality in practical use is that it will always be skipping one.
