• I checked for existing open and closed issues
• I updated ChoreOps (or confirmed the issue still occurs on the latest version)
• If this is a dashboard issue, I updated dashboard dependencies such as button-card and confirmed the issue still occurs

Steps to reproduce

Go to Users, say can Approve claims, non manage admin. checkbox for other user but not self.

Issue description

Can still approve my own chores

What I expect: the user not to be able to cycle through their own chores but be a witness to the chore being done for another.

A better explanation is there are 3 users, and or 4 users. user1 cannot approve their own claims but can confirm for user2,3,4. user2 cannot approve their own claims but can for user1,3,4. and so fourth.

Is this possible by design? Have I just set something up wrong or ticked an over arching permission somewhere?

Sounds like you might have missed the detail about how access control works for users, individual devices and potentially shared devices...

I saw the secondary approach and read that in detail but that would be a unified area where all get to approve or disprove.

I guess my question is if I am an approver, and I have assigned myself user2, does that automatically give me access to approve my own?

Yes, at this point if you are an approver for any user, you have rights to approve for all users. It's a bit of a simplified implementation for access at this point, but it is working as expected.

I'm not sure if you might want to use a kiosk type mode if you have a shared device, so no users could approve on that particular device. That might not fit your need, but if you give me some more detail I can try to help you come up with an approach.

Thank you for the quick replies the app is amazing.

I am really just trying to create an ecosystem where there has to be a witness to the task. Other game task engines always allow the user to give themselves unlimited coins, approve everything, and have no built in approver or witness.

Scenario is 3 users, but I want user1 to be able to approve user2 and user3 only, user2 to approve only user1 and user3, etc. That way every user has a verification against their claim by another user.

I do have a shared tablet and that is fine for that porition of the display of what needs to be done but the original problem exists... can I mimic the ability to verify my own chores as a approvers

You definitely take your chore points seriously. 😊 I've been racking my brain around this one and I don't have a good answer for you. I will change this to an enhancement request because limiting approvers to specific users shouldn't be that hard, it was somewhat left in place from the original integration that ChoreOps was based on.
