Script: Platform Leader

Motivation

Develop a more complete understanding of the level of product thinking within each org by interviewing leaders who can speak to the business value of the platform. We want to get insight into how leadership think and what they do when it comes to the platform.

Considerations

• How is the platform viewed by the executive team? Is it tied to long-term business value? Are there are any associated metrics?
• Do they face any challenges with executive alignment around the value and support of the platform?
• Do they have a defined platform strategy? How do they assess the performance of the platform; if it's tracking in the right direction.
• Are there areas of the business where the platform could play a more significant role?
• Do they have the necessary capabilities in talent & alignment to execute on the platform strategy?
• How is the platform funded? What are the funding cycles? Are there associated metrics. Is it adequately funded to meet its goals? How effective is the current funding model? What factors influence funding decisions about the platform vs other areas of the business?
• Is there a platform roadmap? What's the timeframe? How is the roadmap created? How are initiatives prioritized? Who's involved? Does it get revised? What leads to revisions?

Outcomes

A locked-in script that can be used by interviewers.
