Watchtower not updating container

Hi

I have been using watchtower but it does not seem to be updating my docker containers. I'm using the following stack in OMV5.

In particular, I am using logitech media server as a docker container and I know there is a daily update. But every day Watchtower is not updating this an dother containers.

According to dockerhub, it was last updated 15 days ago:

What the log shows is that it pulls the latest image and since that is the same image as the one the container is currently using, there is nothing to update. Perhaps your'e not using the image you expect?

thanks piksel. maybe i am getting things mixed up. when I go to the container's (i,e logitechmediaserver) web UI, at the bottom of its webpage it says "A new version of Logitech Media Server" is available so I restart the container and then the message disappears presumably because the container was manually updated by me. I've noticed with logitechmediaserver there are daily updates azvailable.

But I think I understand from your comment, even though an update exists, it wont update until the docker imager container is updated on dockerhub?

Looking at the Dockerfile, I think what is happening is that the image itself doesn't contain any updates, but rather it fetches and installs the latest version of the software on start.
This means that the image itself still is the same version, and as such, watchtower does not restart it.

If the software is auto-updated as @piksel suggests, it will update but without a restart. If not, your suspicion is correct and the image on dockerhub would have to be updated for watchtower to pick up the change and update it.
