No sound on VIA VT8237 (Asus mobo)

I'm trying SBEMU on an ASUS P5VD2-MX SE (VT8237 chipset) and even though initialization is successful and everything seems to work, the audio is muted. Tried with /VOL9, /O0 and /O1 but no change. I hear a small "click" on the speakers when SBEMU is loaded, but no sound at all afterwards.
I saw you mentioned the VSBHDA fork in a comment and tried it as well but with that one, the apps will not init the emulated Soundblaster correctly and just exit with a "Sound init failed" message of some sort. It has an interesting /O2 parameter, but I can't try it if it doesn't init...
I also tried with older versions of SBEMU just in case (1.0 beta 3 and some other)
Is there anything else I can try to get the sound unmuted on the VT8237? Thanks
