suggestion: Retag images instead of creating new images

I don't know if creating new image by just adding FROM sourceorg/repo to Dockerfile.tmp may affect the image checksums when pushed. Is it possible to pull all manifests of specific image or does it need to go through painful curl/wget spaghetti of hell?
