Dear all,

I started to prepare the Introduction to Cloud Computing lesson and followed the instructions to set up an AMI using the data-carpentries image. If I see it correctly, the data carpentry images are only available on us-east-1 (North Virginia).

This might lead to some confusion, as I think I have been assigned to us-east-2 by default and would more likely use an European server.

Is there a possibility to make the image available across more regions? Otherwise, a little note might be helpful in the installing instructions.

All the best
Simon

@ErinBecker by any chance will you be able to help on answering this?

I see that I did not specify the lesson where I had this issue, it was the AMI-Setup tutorial (https://datacarpentry.org/genomics-workshop/AMI-setup/).
Furthermore, I thought about the community images more as being like "Dockerhub" and not as individually hosted images. As there are apparently no issues about connectivity and speed of the connection, I do not think that making the image available is worth the trouble. Here I want to thank @tobyhodges for the clarification.

I will, however, later add a small note to the session, to indicate that the images can only be found on us-east-1. :)
